CGI - Perl Script - Html Files - Execute From same directory -


i received old site customer written in perl , used cgi. cgi files mixed in html files call xls file data source.

my current hosting company says cgi files have in cgi-bin executed, static html/html files cannnot called cgi-bin directory.

how guy hosting these files in same directory?

it's matter of how web server configured. new hosting company capable of allowing files run same directory. however, restricting scripts executable dedicated cgi-bin directory , not other locations considered in circles security practice , new hosting company apparently shares belief.

in other words, when tell files have separated, that's "have be" in sense of "this our policy", not "this technical limitation".
