ios - how to present a login, with UISplitViewController? -

i'm trying build universal ios app. so, in xcode started master-detail template.

in iphone version of this, first view list of items, , have "logout" button in navigation bar. when user launches first time, view-controller presented, modally, on top of normal "master" view. asks user/pass, lets user log in. if user hits "logout" button, cleanup occurs, , presented login screen again.

on ipad side of things, i'd have uisplitviewcontroller - interface matches i'm trying do. i'd in similar fashion -- present user login first time launch. later on, if decide leave app, can hit logout, , presented login options again.

i'd prefer cover entire screen 1 view (just user/pass/login button), having trouble figuring out, if "master" view visible.

so, question this: preferred way show login screen, uisplitviewcontroller in mix, user can't else login?

this sounds personal choice/design decision.

you have "master" view login screen , have "detail" splash screen or cute kitten photo says "please login"

you have single uiview "initial" view page , have segue splitview

i think you're quite open in "how" of perhaps i'm not quite understanding question.
